Let's face it. There are a lot of Royalty Free Stock Footage
companies out there. Some have lots of stock footage
shots of one thing, but no variety. Some sites are difficult
to use.Others are too big and impersonal.
We hope we are "just right". If you have any comments about our site and how
we can make it better, don't hesitate to contact us right away. Here's who you'll
be talking to......
DVarchive founder, president and principal shooter Rick Ray
has been a major player in the stock footage industry for almost 20 years. As
the former president of the Wish You Were Here Film and Video stock
library in Burbank, Ca., Rick has extensive knowledge of the kinds of shots
producers want. By traveling the world himself as a former Lonely Planet
backpacker, shooting footage of the cultures he encountered, and by hand
selecting the footage of fellow National Geographic, Discovery Channel,
Travel Channel and commercial cinematographers, Rick is determined to
amass simply the greatest collection of 16mm, 35mm and DV based clips the
web has to offer. He lives in Santa Barbara which he describes as "paradise".
Yves Accad, partner in DVarchive as well as its
resident technical genius and webmaster. Yves hails
from Beirut Lebanon where he first met Rick and gave up a job at
Al Jazeera to serve as second camera, tourguide and bodyguard
on an independent film Rick was shooting. Since moving to the
wilds of Southern California several years ago, Yves has continued
his interest in all things tech as well as being full time partner in
the company and dad to a beautiful young daughter, Aya.
Sharon Okonek, director of marketing and acquisitions, comes
to us from the world of rocket science. As an outreach co-ordinator for
NASA, Sharon's unique gift for bringing people together, inspiring them and
seeing to it that everyone has wacky fun in the process makes her an
indispensable part of the DVarchive team. When not overseeing rocket
launches, Laker victories and DV conventions, Sharon can be found hiking in
the hills of Santa Barbara, 4 wheeling in the deserts of the American
Southwest or getting inspiration from the writings of Joseph Campbell,
Edward Abbey and strangely enough, Dorothy Parker.
Dan Lundmark, art director. Dan has always enjoyed art and
technology. In school he formally studied art and design including logo
and brand identity development. Since then he has developed curriculum
and taught interactive classes at The American Film Institute and
developed CD-ROM presentations for Sony Home Entertainment. Dan
resides in Montrose, Ca. with his wife Melissa where he enjoys mountain
biking, backpacking and surfing as well as relaxing with a good economics
book or an episode of the X Files.
Sanja Ilich, editor. Sanja hails from Belgrade, Yugoslavia and has
studied film editing, Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects and almost
everything else digital at UCLA's Film, Television and Digital Media
Certificate Program. A master with the editing process, Sanja has
worked on movie trailers for Zalman King's Red Shoe Diaries, on films
by John Daly (Terminator, Platoon, The Last Emperor) and on an
influential documentary about the handicapped in Cuba. When she is
not batch capturing and rendering, she can be found watching foreign
art films or dreaming of living in her favorite city in the world, San
Francisco.
