If you have beautifully produced and shot footage, and you are the
exclusive owner of the rights to it, we might be interested in taking a
look at it and representing it on the site.
Please do not send us unsolicited footage - we will return it unopened.
Instead, please fill in the information sheet below, and we will review it
and contact you about your footage. All footage must be submitted on DVCam
tape, firewire from original, and is not returned for the period of the
agreement.
If you have more questions, please refer to our tips for submissions below on the submission form.

Many stock footage providers to the DVArchive.com site will ask an
important series of questions regarding how we market and represent their
footage. We will attempt to answer a few of the most frequently asked
questions. Some of these answers may be relevent and others may seem
obvious. We have written for the broad audience, so feel free to skip
around to the sections which most interest you. If you have more
questions, feel free to contact us directly at info@dvarchive.com.
What kind of footage are you looking for?
All kinds. Mostly we are looking for shooters with a natural eye, and a
special "something" in their material. People, places, animations,
lifestyle, sports, archival, weather, health, conceptual, artistic - you
name it.
If you have a passion for a subject, we might be interested. Don't worry
if your footage doesn't match our pre-existing categories - we'll create a
new category around your collection. But one thing we are fanatical about -
you must use a tripod in your shots. Unless they are specifically designed
to be stylish, we will not preview footage shot without a tripod.
Also, because of our dedication to quality clips, we are not interested in
footage shot with less than 3 chip digital camera, unless that footage is
exceptionally interesting or rare.
Do I have to own all the footage myself?
You have to have the full legal right to license it as stock footage.
Do people appearing in the footage have to be cleared?
Yes. As part of our agreement, we usually require that signed releases
from all persons appearing in the footage be kept on file in our offices.
How do I submit my footage for review?
Simply fill in the form on the submissions page, and send it to us. We
will review your application and send you an e mail if we are interested.
How should I prepare my footage for review?
Upon approval, you will submit your footage to us on DVCam tape (at your
own expense). We require that you do not use any compression in preparing
the footage from your masters, and that you transfer it to your DVCam tape
via firewire. If we choose to represent you, we keep this tape on file as
backup master.
How do royalties work at DVArchive?
You earn royalties every time a clip is downloaded. Usually our commission
to you is 20% of the price of the download. We
pay royalties quarterly, providing you with a report of activity.
What do you prefer to represent, DV footage or film footage?
Ideally, we prefer DV, or very well transferred film to video. If you are
shooting DV, you must be using a 3 chip camera unless your footage is of
exceptional interest or archival value.
Do I have to submit my footage in PAL and NTSC formats?
If you have the footage already developed in PAL and NTSC formats, we
appreciate being able to sample them both. If not, we will do the
transfers ourselves.
